New LUC Impact Dataset version 2022 now available
Calculating greenhouse gas emissions from land use change
Blonk’s LUC Impact Tool provides a predefined way of calculating greenhouse gas emissions from land use change (LUC). These emissions arise when land is transformed from one use to another, such as deforestation for the cultivation of crops such as soybean and oil palm. We use the Blonk LUC Impact Tool to generate our LUC Impact Datasets, which provide LUC greenhouse gas emissions for 9,000+ crop and country combinations.
The latest update of the LUC Impact Dataset, version 2022, is now available.
One of the biggest updates to the 2022 version of the LUC dataset is the inclusion of results calculated with both equal amortization (in line with the PAS2050-1 and therefore the European Commission’s PEF guidance) and linear amortization (in line with the SBTi FLAG standards). This means there is double the amount of data as compared to previous versions of the LUC Impact dataset.
Later this year we will release a web-based version of the LUC Impact Tool, which we previously sold in Excel format.
Highlights of Land Use Change Impact Dataset 2022
9,000+ crop & country combinations
The dataset provides LUC greenhouse emissions for 9,000+ crop-country combinations.
Equal & linear amortization
Two amortization options, in order to comply to specific guidelines.
Following leading footprint standards
Such as the PAS2050-1 and EU PEF, and SBTi FLAG standards.
The LUC Impact Dataset 2022 will help you to:
Understand spatial LUC variation
Learn about spatial variation of LUC emissions related to certain crops, and about the variation in LUC emissions among different crops cultivated in the same country.
Comply to SBTi FLAG
Use FLAG-compliant LUC results (using linear amortization) in your SBTi FLAG reporting.
Follow PEF guidelines
Use PAS-2050 compliant LUC results (using equal amortization) when following PEF guidelines for your LCA or carbon footprint study.

The dataset is available for a licensing fee of €540 (excl. VAT). If you wish to integrate the data into your commercial tool, get in touch with us to discuss the opportunities.
more about the luc impact tool
LUC Impact Tool
LUC Impact is an tool that provides a predefined way of calculating GHG emissions from LUC. This tool offers insight into the land transformation and associated emissions related to the cultivation of a specific country and crop combination. The LUC Impact tool can define LUC when the previous land use is known or unknown. If the country of cultivation is also unknown, the tool can calculate the average GHG emissions connected to LUC for a selected crop. This way, the tool has three functionalities based on the amount of information available to the user. The tool also lets users select specific land management practices that influence soil organic carbon content, such as tillage level and organic input level, to represent the specific cultivation system's carbon stock accurately.
Currently the 2021 LUC Impact Tool is available for sale, and the 2022 web-based version of the LUC Impact Tool is still under development.
